How to Write Achievement-Focused Resume Bullets

Listing duties tells a recruiter what your job was; listing achievements tells them how well you did it. Achievement-focused bullets are what make a resume stand out.

Use the action-result formula

Start with a strong verb, describe what you did and end with a measurable result. "Reduced report turnaround from 5 days to 2" beats "handled reporting".

Find numbers everywhere

Even without formal metrics you can quantify volume, frequency, time saved or people helped.

Quick tips

  • Begin each bullet with an action verb
  • Add a number or percentage where possible
  • Focus on outcomes, not tasks
  • Keep the strongest bullet first
